Dear Ref Assignors,

Opening weekend was one of our best ever and we thank you for that!
Some additional reminders:
  1.        CSL allows unlimited substitutions and in ALL CSL games substitutions must continue to take place at the halfway line, regardless of the new IFAB decision.
  2.        2012,2011 and 2010 all play 7v7. 2009 and 2008 play 9v9 with 2008 allowed to head the ball.
  3.        Water breaks ok for September if even one coach requests them and/or ref deems it advisable.
  4.        Refs who download the CSL ref app and use it to photograph and submit match reports, do not need to mail the match report, but should keep the copy until the end of the season. Please encourage all your refs to do this so they can be assigned in our system and get proper credit for doing a good job.
  5.        Teams are to be on OPPOSITE sides of the field unless physically prohibited by the field layout.
  6.        Refs are to clearly mark red and yellow and double yellow cards with a R, Y and YY.   DO NOT PULL CARDS  for Double Yellow or RED cards unless it is for [VC, Abuse or Assault].
  7.        Please have refs check the teams in by putting check marks on the match report next to the players who are    present.
  8.      Encourage refs to institute a pre-game meeting with captains and coaches whenever time permits. We have  provided a suggested script for this brief meeting below.

The video instructions for using the app are here: http://www.coastsoccer.com/refs/refapp.htm
As always, safety first and let’s all make sure to work towards making the game a positive experience for all the participants!

Thanks,

Bernard Towers
