Look out SportsCenter, there's a new sports show on the tube. The Bronco Athletic Association has released its pilot episode of Bronco Sports Roundup.
The ESPN-esque show looks to promote Bronco Athletics with sports highlights and interviews from athletes and coaches. The pilot episode premiered earlier this month. The association aims to have a new episode each quarter that highlights the in-season teams.
The pilot episode includes highlights from the men's and women's soccer teams, as well as the volleyball team.
"We hope this can help promote Bronco pride throughout campus," said Lorena Marquez, athletics marketing and promotions coordinator.
Students and staff from the Bronco Athletic Association produce the Bronco Sports Roundup. The co-anchors are tennis player Eric Carlstrom and Connor Duckworth from the track and field team.
"The show is a fun, creative project but also an opportunity for those involved to develop their leadership and communication skills," says Marquez, who also directs the show. "We welcome feedback so that this student-driven project can grow and be part of the learn-by-doing philosophy Cal Poly Pomona instills in all its students."
The Bronco Sports Roundup can be seen every hour on the hour on the university's Channel 33. See the show anytime at http://dsa.csupomona.edu/athletics/baa/default.asp.

***Our Own Vice-President, Armen Keuilian Makes Headlines!***
FANS: Pupils Stella Lee, Kelly Nguyen, Kylie Kiernan, Travis Slotemaker, Bianca Bracero, Jonny Miller, Jacklyn Webber and Megan Hanson surround "Mr. K."

•Born to Armenian parents in Jaffa, 1946
•Married for 40 years to Jeannie, two sons, one granddaughter
•He and his brothers were partners in Archie Tire and Towing in Santa Ana until he left the partnership in 1996.
•At age 50, fulfilled lifelong dream of teaching.
•Published his first book, "I Love You Mr. K," at age 60. The book costs $18 and may be ordered via e-mail at armensr@hotmail.com.
ANAHEIM – Armen Keuilian is no ordinary teacher.
At 60, his middle school pupils adore him as if he were a rock star or a legendary athlete.
They wave and call to him on the El Rancho Charter School campus in Anaheim Hills. "I love you, Mr. K. I love you, Mr. K." It happens hundreds of times each day.
"I can't even take my wife, Jeannie, to the movies around here," he smiled, "because someone always stands up and shouts, 'I love you, Mr. K.' "
That's how Keuilian's first book got its title.
"I Love You Mr. K" debuts Dec. 15 at $18 per copy. Although it is self-published, his pupils – past and present – have vowed to make it a best-seller.
"I'm going to get Mr. K on 'Oprah,' " said pupil Bianca Bracero, 13. "I've already e-mailed her hundreds of times."
Keuilian is a French and Spanish teacher, but pupils say languages are secondary to the six principles he teaches: respect, honesty, integrity, compassion, honor and love.
"The dos and don'ts," former pupil Taylor Moore calls them. "I've learned a lot of life lessons from him."
Former pupils often come by to tell him how he has changed their lives.
"I measure my success now by their achievements," he said.
His nonfiction book chronicles 10 years as a teacher and the joy of helping 3,000 pupils set and attain their goals.
"My book is about love – agape love," he said. It has nothing to do with this other kind of thing that's going on (between teachers and students) these days."
It is also about hate – the kind his father suffered after being orphaned by Turks who massacred hundreds of thousands of Armenian Christians, including his grandmother. Keuilian's family fled to Jordan, then immigrated to the U.S.
El Rancho Principal John Besta considers Keuilian a rare find.
"I was very fortunate to hire Armen," Besta said. "He was not your average new teacher."
He answered the call to teach at 50. He was nine credits shy of a college diploma when he dropped out and went into business with his brothers.
"It took me 27 years to go back and get my degree," he said.
"At his (teaching) interview," Besta said, "… what I saw in his eyes was passion. This man was committed to his work. This was a man that you would want to teach your child."

TEST YOUR LAWS OF THE GAME KNOWLEDGE AT
ussoccer.com's "YOU MAKE THE CALL" VIDEO SITE
Referees, Players, Coaches and Fans Learn About
Referee Decisions with “You Make the Call”
CHICAGO, Ill. (July 25, 2006) – Referees, players, coaches and soccer aficionados can dissect plays, make calls and test their referee skills on ussoccer.com’s “You Make the Call” interactive video site. The presentation allows referees of all ages and grade levels to reinforce their knowledge of “The Laws of the Game,” while allowing players, coaches and fans to put themselves in the referee’s place and learn more about the reasoning behind decisions that officials make.
"We are happy to be able to release You Make the Call again," said Julie Ilacqua, U.S. Soccer Managing Director of Referee Programs. “It's a fun method of helping referees and non-referees alike to have a better understanding of the ‘Laws of the Game.’"
"You Make the Call" debuted on ussoccer.com in December 2005, and has since, much like the website itself, undergone a transformation that renders the interactive site easier to use. To access “You Make the Call,” simply click here or select “Laws of the Game” from the ussoccer.com homepage navigation menu. A drop-down menu will appear with “You Make the Call” as one of the options.
Users will be able to watch a video clip of a foul, along with a summary of the incident. The user is given four choices as to what the referee’s decision should be. Upon submitting an answer, players will get a summary of the results, the reason for the decision according to “The Laws of the Game,” and a short explanation of the correct answer.
“You Make the Call” is an excellent learning tool for young referees who are still becoming familiar with “The Laws of the Game.” It not only allows young referees to see the foul in real time, as well as replays, it explains the correct decision, as well as why the other options are not correct, specifically citing “The Laws of the Game.”
The game is also a great venue for players, coaches and fans, because it gives insight into the application of “The Laws of the Game.”
Participants also have the option of signing up to receive e-mail alerts when a new video is posted.
